Physical New Series

Physical (New Series On Apple TV) updates and what’s new in that and interesting things about it. The series is a comedy-drama that follows the lives of five friends who are all going through different stages of their life, both physically and emotionally.

What’s in a series?

Checking in with Raymond, a high schooler who has to deal with bullies and is struggling at home because his parents are going through their divorce, we see that he’s trying to stay strong for himself, but sometimes the pressure becomes too much. He starts questioning if there might be something wrong with him when he doesn’t have any physical symptoms like all his friends do (headaches, fatigue) just from being stressed out about everything on top of dealing with typical teenage things – girls, grades, etc… At least it seems like Raymond will finally get some relief soon enough after an episode where one friend tells them they’re hosting a house party, and another says they’re going to make sure Raymond’s not harassed.

Why is it named “Physical”?

The series features many adolescents who are either coming of age or trying to grow up.

The series features many adolescents who are either coming of age or trying to grow up and have been doing their best to stay physically healthy by staying fit in the midst of all the stress they experience. The protagonist, Raymond, is a high school student with friends that enjoy partying and alcohol, but he’s determined not to give in to any temptations because his parents are going through a divorce, and sometimes it feels like there isn’t anything good happening for him – from being harassed at school just for having divorced parents, getting bullied on social media when people find out about his mother’s lack of parenting skills (she has been arrested multiple times), etc… He wants help to deal with these feelings, so he starts playing some video games where he’s able to take out his frustrations and anger.

Raymond plays a game called “Physical.” He starts off playing by himself, but then he gets really excited when he realizes that there are other players online too – they’re just like him, kids in high school who don’t want to have any alcohol or drugs because their parents are going through some tough times. Raymond is relieved because finally, for the first time since it all started, he doesn’t feel so alone anymore. That feeling of relief quickly fades away, though, as soon as another player character shows up on Raymond’s screen – someone named Brooke…

Brooke has been using her own character-in-game persona to pull pranks on people she knows from real life: “I pretend to be someone else, and I call them, or if they’re at the park, I might come up from behind them.” Brooke’s parents have been talking about getting a divorce. Raymond’s dad just lost his job. They both want it all to stop – but don’t know how…

“Brooke doesn’t understand why her mom wants more time with her,” says Sheri Azzam of The Childrens’ Center for Family Justice in Pasadena, California. “She thinks that being angry is normal after what has happened between their parents.” In fact, she would rather not see either parent than go back and forth between them.

Bryson is on the verge of a meltdown at school because he has just been fighting with his dad again. “It feels like it’s always about him not being able to see me,” says Bryson’s father, who lives in another state…

“The sad thing about this is that I love my son dearly and miss him so much when we’re apart,” explains Keith Mora, the boy’s dad.” He misses us both as well – but doesn’t want to be confused anymore by what will happen if he spends time with one parent or the other.

He wishes for an end to all of this: The fights, worries, and pain…
