Lost In Space Season Three Review:

The first season of Lost in Space was a surprising delight. It managed to capture the sense of adventure and excitement present in the old TV show while still managing to feel fresh- even if it did get a little too close at times for comfort.

The second season, on the other hand, is more puzzle than fun. It takes itself far too seriously, with heavy doses of melancholy and existential crises creeping their way into nearly every episode (even when they’re not necessary). And because all ten episodes are so dark this time around, there’s very little variety beyond that one overarching tone- no humor or lightness anywhere to be found here.”

What can we expect from season 3?

The third season of Lost in Space is set to premiere on Netflix with ten episodes. The showrunners have confirmed that the final installment will be a six-episode limited series.

“We know what we want it to end up being and when,” said co-creator Burk Sharpless, “and fortunately, our bosses let us do whatever we think is best.”

In an interview with EW, executive producer Zack Estrin revealed that he’s already seen footage from the new season and teased some details about what viewers can expect: “It was really thrilling for me because I got to see all these moments coming together which are my favorite things in one episode… There’s some crazy space stuff going down; there’s some crazy human stuff going down; there’s real character growth. It was just one of those scenes where you’re like, ‘Oh man.’

The first season premiered April 16, 1998, with ten episodes following Dr. John Robinson. He leads his family across galaxies to find Earth-like planets or habitable worlds so they can start life anew outside their dying homeworld of 1999.

Rating details about this season:

The season received mixed reviews from critics. The show currently holds a 63% approval rating with an average rating of 64/100 on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, which summarizes the consensus opinion that “despite some impressive visual and special effects for its time, Lost in Space’s clunky scripts and dated storytelling make this series’ attempts at sci-fi camp more laughable than enjoyable.”

Many fans were also disappointed by the changes to the original character personalities (particularly those of Dr. John Robinson) they viewed as not conservative enough. Many other viewers felt that these alterations did not affect their enjoyment or understanding of what was happening in every episode.
