HBO Max Is getting New Animated Batman Series! Premiere Date, Plot Details and other Updates!

Batman fans rejoice! HBO Max is getting a new Batman animated series, with the premiere date set for 2020. The show will be called “The Batman”; and will feature over 100 episodes, as well as some of the most popular Batman characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. The Batman Animated Series:

According to Deadline, HBO Max is getting a new Batman animated series set for 2020. Titled The Batman, the show will have over 100 episodes; and feature some of the most popular Batman; characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern who are all voiced by their original actors from previous DC movies. There are also plans for an upcoming spin-off series called Harley Quinn/Catwoman centred around two female protagonists that premiered in 2013 as part of Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim.”

In this new incarnation, each episode will be 22 minutes long – which makes it similar to other superhero cartoons such as Teen Titans Go! or Justice League Action. However, unlike those shows where they’re mostly comedic with occasional lighthearted drama, The Batman will be a much more mature take on the world of Gotham City and its inhabitants.

Plot:

The series follows Bruce Wayne (Batman); as he tries to save his city from the likes of Catwoman, Joker, and Harley Quinn; in an animated format; that looks like it’s going for a slightly gritty aesthetic with Superman voice actor Kevin Conroy reprising his role. Other characters confirmed so far are; Robin (Damian), Nightwing, Alfred Pennyworth, and Commissioner James Gordon, along with villains such as Poison Ivy and Parasite, who make appearances throughout various episodes. There are also plans for Batgirl, but she is not featured prominently within these first few seasons.

Each episode will feature two 11-minute stories with Batman and his allies facing off against a different villain, one in the first half of each episode and one at the end.

The series is being created by The LEGO Batman Movie animation; producer Brandon Vietti, co-producer Alan Burnett (who has experience working on both Batman: The Animated Series for Warner Bros., as well as DC Comics’ New Batman Adventures). And executive producers; Sam Register, Bruce Timm (known to fans from shows like Superman: Doomsday), James Tucker (Justice League Unlimited) Greg Weisman (Young Justice).

There will be twelve episodes for the first season, starting with an episode about Batman versus The Joker; and ending with a showdown between Batman vs. Ras Al Ghul in the final one!
